I pcicked up this mauser today at the Nashville gunshow. I dont beleive it to be in original military configuration but on the other hand it looks to be factory modified . The date is and no caliber markings. I was told it was imported and modified for Sears back when they sold guns but I have never heard of anything like that. any way the bore has strong rifling and the wood was beautiful so I bought it . any body have any info for me

Looks like an Oviedo made Spanish 1893 mauser. Beautiful wood:eek: If it was sold by Sears it should have their name on it somewhere. Does the bolt close on an empty chamber or does the mag follower keep the bolt from moving forward? With no indication of caliber you'd need to make a chamber casting to see what it's set up for. My Spanish Mauser is unmarked but it is 7x57. The barrel length should be 29". If it is than it hasn't been rechambered, at least not by setting back the barrel. Nice find.
