Every Romanian RPK I have seen has been a stamped reciever gun. You do not have too many choices on the reciever. Most people building stamped guns are using either a Hesse or Ohio Oradance Works (OOW) reciever.

If you are having the gun built, I would consider AK-USA or Independence Arms and have the heat treating process they are now offering done. A lot of people will say this is not necessary, but for only $35 I think it could be a wise investment.

Does anyone know how to contact Independance Arms? I can't seem to find them. Also can anyone recommend a good AK smith to do the work? thanks

I have heard great things about Independence Arms, InRange, AK-USA, and Investment Grade Firearms. I currently have my RPK being built by InRange. My RPK is being built on a Maadi donor rifle.

My next project (AK74) will be built on a OOW reciever. The OOW is only spot heat treated and I would like to get it fully heat treated. Currently Independence Arms and AK-USA is offering this service. I will most likely use one of them for my AK74 build.

got my RPK kit today. What are the Romanian markings? This has a arrow in triangle next to the date. Looks like an Izhevsk factory but I thought I read somewhere that it can also be Romanian? What do you guys think Fireman
