Some or all of them were converted to 8mm I think. They are a small ring Mauser which means that they are basically not as hearty as the large ring K98 knock offs.
I think some of these were used to build FR7's and FR8's too. Is there another date on it from the 1950's?

nope , no other dates that I see but this gun is in great shape with a few dings in the wood but could be easily fixed, also has some kind of marking in the wood towards the butt , sideways or elongated diomand with a sword crossing somthing that I cannot make out. cal 7.92

I was getting ready to post the same question !!! I just picked up one of these.... It looks kinda like a cross between the German Mauser and the Swede mauser.. My markings aren't too clear, but from what I can make out, they are just as bushbanger described,,, I'll see if an 8mm round will fit in mine,,,

Maybe they were all made as 8mm, it's been a long time since I did any research on them. The M1916 Spanish was 7mm converted to .308.
Numrich and J&G had these available about 2 years ago and I missed out on getting one.

I just looked up some stuff on google, the proper designation is M43, but they were made in 1946.
Here's a picture of one
