Where may one acquire a Polish made receiver fit for the 7.62x39 caliber? I would like to order a Polish kit sometime in the future, and would like the complete carbine to be as 'authentic' as possible. I was also thinking of ordering an entire carbine from DalvarUSA and adding a US parts kit to it for 'assault rifle' type legality, and then adding some Polish made furniture ( if it were possible to obtain just the furniture, and not say, a whole parts kit ) to it.. What are your opinions?

As far as I know, no Polish AKM receivers have been imported.

There won't be any more receivers imported to the US. That's why all you can find are US receivers.

Has complete Polish AK's ever been sold here in the states?

No. The closest was when Global was building rifles from Polish kits with FEG receivers.

It's all personal preference. For the cool look the folder wins hands down. For comfort, standard stock. I ordered the rear trunnion for my Polish kit to put wood on it. I'm waiting for Global to come out with their receivers before making a choice on one. I'm hoping that someone will come out with a stamped shell cut for the folder. I know that the Firing Line folder receiver is more money than their standard. If someone comes out with a stamped folder shell that's the way I'll go. I have a pre-ban SA85B that I put an EG side folder on. Looks cool, but would rather shoot my SA2000M hi cap conversion for comfort.

I am seriously considering following in your footsteps, Ted W, and buying that same receiver along with a Polish parts kit, however, I have absolutely no experience in constructing my own firearms, and as simple in operation as a Kalashnikov is, would any of you recommend such a task to a newbie? On that note, should I order these parts and merely take them to a gunsmith? I don't want this to turn into a several hundred dollar regret.. Thanks for your help.

my opinion:
if you're using an akm kit -- use an akm receiver!!! i know those global guns that use akm receivers and then milled parts kits are well made, but they just don't look right. i think it's the same thing with using a milled receiver and an akm kit. it just throws off the proportions and the asthetics. sure it will work fine, but you said you wanted to look authentic. if that's the case then find yourself a maadi or feg receiver to build on. either of those will help you make a nice accurate "polish" ak.
I will be going with the milled underfolder receiver from firing line , I know i'll be spending more money , but i just want a solid good rifle when completed.I won't mind spending the extra money, just want a good complete project, and since i have to wait for the receiver for a few months maybe the AWS will expire and I won't have to have the underfolder pinned or welded

You are aware that is expires the fall of '04 and not the fall of '03, right? I started getting excited about the expiration until I realized I got my years mixed up.
