In my humble opinion, Armalite is the best of the best!!!!!!!!
I have shot them all and nothing is smoother to shoot and more accurate than my M-15A2!!
I have put more than 10'000 rounds through her without 1 jam!!
just my.....:cents:

The M15A2 is a .223 caliber gun. Armalite makes more than just AR10's.

Yer right. I got mine (M15a4) in black (Green one's aren't ripe ;) ) I like the option provided w/ the flat top, but to each his/her own.
I wish Armalite would go back to the Pegasus logo.

OOPs my bad. For some reason i thought that Armalite only made 308's in all of thier models. Sorry for my stupidity.

While it's true Armalite makes .223 and .308, it doesn't fully address the original premise of affordability.
In my own personal experience, unless one shoots Wolf and other import, purely from a NATO standpoint, the .308s are cheaper than .223.
On the other hand, if you wanted just the cheapest centerfire ammo, nothing can touch Wolf 7.62x39. If you shoot it out of a SAR-1, ($280 v. $800 average AR) you'd probaly spend less than a third what the same shooting would cost you in .223.
The rock bottom cheapest: .22lr! :D
