Well, I got called in yesterday. Had to work a double today. The Resort has just completed a 1 million dollar "hunt club" to do special functions at. This place is beautiful! Well I had to do a party there tonight. It was a clambake. It is very common for chef's to trade food for drinks. Normally I do not partake. Well tonight I traded a couple of lobster tails for a couple of drinks.

I started work at 6:30 this morning. So by 10:30 tongight I am pretty tired. With two drinks in me. I leave work at 11, and low and behold. Sure as shit. DUI checkpoint. I am freaking. The patrol officer just looked at me, said, just getting off work? Yes sir. WEll then go straight home. WHEWW!!! I was not intoxicated, but being as tired as I was. I was a bit worried. So now I am having a cold one. GOing to bed SOON. But this reminds me of a funny stroy from my distored past.

The last time that I ever encountered a checkpoint was about 15 years ago. Me and a buddy just got off work. I was driving. We were going to a party, and the inside of the van was like a scene from Fast times a Rigemont High. We were passing something that we shouldn't. I say to my buddy, hey looks like a wreck ahead. ( as I take a hit) Some one was looking out for us that day. They waved us through.

Last time I was stopped at a DUI check...

Here in NC, the LEO's like being told if you have a firearm in the vehicle, so I told him..

He asked to see it and I showed it to him.

He said is that real?

I thought why else would I have bothered to tell him if it wasn't or :asshole:, but I said yes.

He said damn and yelled to another LEO to come look at it...

The second LEO wanted to buy it. He and I ended up talking guns for about 20 minutes..

It is a WWII 1911-A1.

LEO's are just like the rest of us.. Some are good folks and some totally ignorant idiots.

What makes them worse than us is I can tell another to get the H out of my face, but not them.. :p

I've been very lucky with law enforcement over the years.

I know cops are like everyone else, there's good and bad. Then again, I'm never carrying anything illegal, and I'm not wanted, so that improves the odds.
