To you, what is an American?

Myself, I see him or her as a person who is a little innocent on world affairs. At times, he’s been known to side with who is wrong because that is who is the underdog.

He’s quick to help the underdog, even if the underdog is chewing on his leg. He’s known to carry the banner of what’s Right, even if the rest of the world is against him. He’s not afraid to stand in the face of adversity when he knows he’s right in what he’s standing for. He’ll take the down trodden and weak, and protect them. Americans love winners and will help the underdog to become one.

He’s been known to throw rocks at the dogs who sniff around his trashcan, yet will take the scruffiest, mangiest, three legged, one eyed, torn eared mutt into his home and feed him. Maybe Americans know what it’s like to be that mutt; He comes from all walks of life, left his homeland, everything he knows, his extended families, his house where his family lived for generations to make something better for himself and his family. He’s been the well-to-do, he’s been the downtrodden. He’s the one who has that "something extra" that gave him the push to leave everything he knew to make better for himself and his family in his new homeland.

An American is proud of where he’s from, yet is willing to die for his new home. He brings the strengths of his homelands to this great Nation when he becomes part of the foundation of this Country of ours.

We make up America. We are Americans.

No country slower to anger or slower to forgive.

The last bastion of the concept of the individual and individual responsibility.

Anyone who shares these beliefs is an American, whether or not they live here.

Outstanding guys!

We knock those down that need to be put in their place, then pick them up, dust them off, and give them another chance to make things right.

Japan did right with their opportunity, so did Europe for the most part. Unfortunately, 60 years later, some of the Europeans need to be knocked down another notch or two.

Great post...

In the United States of Litigation, individual responsibility is fading.
