Well, the last time that I went out shooting. I left a couple of .308 rounds in my pocket. My wife discovered them in the process of washing the shorts. What would have happend if the rounds made it all the way to the dryer? Do you think that there would be enought heat (gas dryer) to have set them off?

Thankfully the wife found them before the kids did. I feel a little silly for being that irresponsible. You can never be too careful!

A friend of mine had some .22 long rounds left in his pockets when his wife threw his clothes in the laundry. Everything was going just fine until the dryer made a screeching noise. His wife turns off the dryer and looks inside to see what was causing the racket. One of those .22 rimfire rounds was lodged between the dryer drum and the non-moving back wall. It was lodged close to the top section. My good pal then asks me to remove said round by PRYING ON THE RIM WITH A SCREWDRIVER until the round popped out. Needless to say, I told him to go f*ck himself and he could do that while I watched from a safe distance with my camera at the ready. While calling me a p*ssy, he still refused to do this simple and "safe" thing however.

I gave it another look while he was playing on his computer and avoiding the problem that he had created. I tried to push the drum a little to see if it would move. When I pushed up on the drum, the round fell out just as neatly as one could ask. It was nice and warm from it's time in the dryer. I didn't check to see if it would fire or not, primarily because I was wary of the round given the severe abuse it underwent earlier.
