Just got back from setting up tree stands this weekend and wholy crap were the ground squirrels (aka. popguts) out in force. Overall total was over 100 dead between me and my friend. And we didnt even put a dent in the population either (there was that many) .
Anyways I got to break in my new AR and boy was it fun. Most of my kills came from using my .17 rem though. I would have taken pictures but after shooting them with the 17 there was nothing left. Also my longest shot was about 275 yards confirmed with my bushnel range finder. Not bad for being a furry little critter standing about 8 inches tall.
Expect lots of pics from me this fall when I go coyote hunting:cool:

Well its a little spot in northeastern utah called currant creek. Its were I go deer hunting every year. Usually its a good spot for trophy mule deer, now I consider it a great spot for popgut hunting also:D

The coyotes were fairly thick up there also. I heard a group below were we camped. I tried to put the sneek on them them but ended up falling half way down the mountain do to wet weeds and no traction on the boots.(ouch). Oh well another place to try hunting this fall after I fill my deer tag.

Where I deer hunt in Rural Hall VA, the coyotes have gotten thick as well. Noone ever saw them up there for years, but last year I saw two of them. The deer population has gotten a bit more sparse since the coyotes have made a reappearance... I saw one doe in the whole week I was there. I got close to one buck during that period as well, but not in line of sight. I was close enough to hear him making a scrape (50 yards or less). The wind shifted every 5 seconds it seems, so he walked when he got a good snoot full of my scent as I approached. Turkeys seemed to thin out as well.
