Is it illegal to but a Full auto bolt carrier into your semi auto AK's? I know it is for the AR-15 but I have seen some people say it is ok on the AK and varients.

Kind of a grey area. Problem with the AR is that "drop in auto sears" and "lightning links" are available. Some legal registered ones, some not. Makes the ATF nervous about ANY FA parts in an AR.
NO lightning link or DIAS has ever been released for AK's to the best of my knowledge. Tough to make one. Therefore it is said ATF is not so jumpy about FA bolts in AK's. Avoid the sear pivot pin holes in the receiver like crazy though as that for sure makes it a machine gun subject to NFA.
Tread softly. Big brother is watching YOU! No doubt several here are ATF checking for "thought crime". FA is lots of fun, just pay the bucks for a legit one!
All the early semi-auto Maadi AK's that were imported by Steyr had the F/A bolt carrier in them, and ATF didn't have a problem with it.

My MAK 90, purchased in late '91 came with the FA Bolt Carrier. Also had the indents on the rear of the stamped receiver for the down-folder and all the muzzle threads still whole.

I would personally never make a full auto weapon just because it is not worth the risk. I have heard the the full auto carrier were better than the semi auto ones. I guess I could get a full-auto carrier and mill off the sear trip.
