Yes, there were Mexican Mausers, but none specifically from the other countries as far as I know.

I think the MM were made on a contract by BRNO in 8mm.
Don't quote me on that, but I don't think they weren't the typical Spanish Mauser type.

I *believe* there are rifles (mostly mausers) that were used in Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador but were simply imports made elsewhere. So call them what you will, but as far as arsenals making them in country, I dont think so

Beautiful crest. Do you find that most of the South American models have issues with pitting? More so than European Mausers?

Yes I do.The best kept are the Argentine, then the Chilian. It does seem the closer you get to the Equator the worst it gets. Most not all pitting is associated at the wood line.

I just aquired a Chilean, but know next to nothing about them. This one is all numbers matching, but the bolt shroud is broken at the threads. Anyone know what would cause that and can I use a shroud off another? I'll get some pics up when I get a chance.

Could have been a weak spot in the metal.Depending on what model it is,93,95 or 98 you should be able to find a shroud with little effort.Try Springfield Sporters,Gunparts or Sarco.HTH

Thanks, mauserdad. I have several shrouds here but haven't tried them yet. I've just never seen one broken like that (not that I've seen everything there is to see:)).

In 35 years of collecting this is the first one I have heard of breaking.Had to have been an unusual circumstance.Good luck.
