Is it possible to get a good cheek weld on the KTR when using either the sights or an Ampoint ML2 affixed to the rail on the dust cover? I ask because this was not possible hen using the aforementioned Aimpoint on the KV-04 mount, demanding the addition of a cheek rest. Thanks

I can get a very good cheek weld on my KTR when looking through the peep sight. The center of the rear peep is located about 3/4" above the top of the dust cover. I have just recently mounted a EOTech Holosight on the integral scope rail , which raised the line of sight roughly 1" (or the center dot of the reticle is about 1 3/4" above the top of dust cover), and I can get a solid weld with the side of my jaw on the stock.

I hope this info helps.

FWIW, the quality of the gun is MUCH better than my picture taking abilities. ;)

WOW!
thanks looks fantastic!

I have a couple of VEPRs and have been thinking of getting the KTR makeover done, but the price is just crazy . . .

Basically double the price of the regular VEPR.

Thanks for sharing the pic of that thing.

Mike

How do you like the EO Tech? Which model did you get? Is it difficult to see the dot in bright sunlight?

The EOTech is absolutely incredible. I got the 552 model that takes 2 standard AA batteries and is NV compatable. The brightness intensity range is very wide, and you can easily see the sight in very bright light, yet can turn it way down and see in near dark conditions. The sight itself is very fine (the dot is one MOA in size), yet it is very crisp, and not washed out.

Here's a link to a shooting game that has the actual reticle used in the EOTech sight:

EOTech's are OUTSTANDING! What I found interesting is that the hologram reticle was still a pink color (while everything else was green) when I looked at it through an early Gen NVG! I think Gen3+ will look green however...

Here's a 551 (I prefer the shorter length of the N battery version) on my M4!
