Jap rifle help

Greetings, I'm new to firearms collecting. Today at a yard sale? I saw a Jap Rifle.I asked the lady to put it away untill Sun afternoon. I know nothing of these guns, can you help me ID. It has brown enamel paint on the stock. very crude metal finnish. Has complete Mum. does'nt have a ramrod, does'nt have an import mark. Does'nt have a receiver dust cover, does'nt have a monopod. Is fifty dollars a good price?

1. $50.00 is a great price for any gun. It has probobly been painted, but with an intact Mum sounds like a WWII bringback. Most likely a Type 38 Arisaka. If you get it post pics so we can tell you more about what it is.
