Last year, I was lucky to find an early AR-180B, or so I thought. After breaking it in per the instructions from Armalite, I took it out to have a good time. It was anything but, after breaking it in using 3 shot groups and no problems, the rifle was now a very nasty bolt action. It took 3 times to the range, after many repair attempts by me before the rifle became the great AR-180B that I had read about. The last repair made before calling Armalite, had to do with the way the bolt road in the receiver. It was possible to install it wrong, causing it to bind. Finally modified to prevent that, I ran several dozen mags through just to satisfy myself that it was fixed.

Today I decided to take it out to a friends farm for what was supposed to be a cal .22 shoot out. It turned out to be the only rifle that I brought that didn't give problems. I fired a few more than a few rounds, all off hand seated (not on a bench or chair) and was more than happy to consistantly empty 30 rounds, all into the center of the target. Worst group of 30 was 3 inches if you remove two fliers that were 1 inch out. Not bad for an old guy with glasses!!!

For a rifle that started out looking like I would trashed it, I am thrilled with it. Light, easy to point, very accurate and almost no recoil. Great shooter!!!!

(The bad time was with 3 of my Ruger 10/22s, all had problems from stove pipes, failing to reset the trigger, double taps, tri-bursts. I used the same ammo as always, but it still could be a bad batch. It didn't matter which mags I used, all had problems in all 3 Rugers. Errrrrrr.......)
