Is AR15.com general forum the Man Show with guns? Look at the post and see what is important over there.
They are also a vindictive lot. Get in an arguement there with a whole lot of them. Watch them delete your post, and ban you. Even if the mud slinging is directed at you, and not by you at individual members.
They also don't respond to emails sent to them to resolve membership issues.

There are quite a number of us here who've been banned at Arf.com. I started out at Arf, was banned by Timmy there and ended up here.
Rest assured, however, that you've come to a much better guns forum than arf.com anyway.
Welcome!

Wyon8ve,
Tim banned people from AR15.com. Tim leaves AR15.com to start Gun-Talk. AR15.com's Mr Roger mods ban other members and they goto Gun-Talk where they become Mr Roger mods who ban members from Gun-Talk.
It's a vicious circle dude. I'm starting to like this place.

I managed to get my account unblocked over there, but I'm carefull about what I post. Today I gave advice to a member who was defenately getting hot under the collar. I told him not to let them get to him. This coming from personal experience.
Anyways, thanks for the warm welcome.

It's funny that I stumbled upon this. I was just reading a thread on ar15.com where someone mounted an Aimpoint in front of a Trijicon that was in front of a back up iron sight. It's quite comical to see those people defending it. Because of the setup the backup sight is completely useless but that doesn't seem to matter. The other thing I noticed is the niches that exist. As soon as someone questions that setup a bunch of people (all from Florida I should add) jump all over everyone defending it.
It’s a strange place indeed. I’m glad I found this site! I'll add to the Wolf ammo list; never mention a bad word about Trijicon or they will let you have it!

Hey guys.. lets stop trashing AR15.com. :)
Welcome to the board Bilster!
:)
ar15.com's staff is very vindictive. They're pretty much democrat/socialist types who support guns but everything else means you have to do what they say/like and if you disagree with them you're automatically stupid/troll. One of their favorite things to do is label people trolls. I was banned a while back from ar15.com. you can still find me in their chatroom. I admit I deserved having my moderator status in their chat channel removed but I think they took their little vendetta against me WAAAAAAAY too far. They tend to over-react and are very sociopathic towards people who think even a TAD bit differently. Well most of the staff is anyhow. There's a few staff members who are decent people. I spoke with one recently in the chat who was in agreement that ar15.com's staff as a whole was pretty lousy and abusive.
There is another site though, pre-ban.com, that is in "competition" with ar15.com. I mean they're not really in competition but one would think they are because the atmosphere they provide is a LOT better and a lot more friendly. It's a shame there's not more people there.
P.S. I forgot I even had the ar15 section of gunsnet bookmarked. I had bookmarked Jimmy's page(AK-47 maker Arsenal USA) cause I was interested in one of his guns. This is great. I'll have to stop by here more.

If you avoid the GD, its a great place. Atleast as far as information is concerned, its about the best a board can get.
I recently gave 20 bucks to for member status, and the "team forum" really is something else. Its too bad you have to pay to get in there, thats where the "decent" conversation happens.
I RARELY go in GD. Spend most of my time in the ammunition, IL, or EE parts. Aside from a few people, its a great place.
Still love this place though. Dont post much, but its got TONS of good info, just a different kind.

Well one thing for sure, is that the information obtainable at AR15.com far exceeds the information avaiable here.
Sorry guys, considering some of these forums have not been posted in weeks and the lack of diversity tells me that there is not a lot of knowledge being shared here.
I have learned a great deal over at ar15.com, you just need to learn how to sort out all the BS, cliques and bandwagoning.

TacWac you are right AR15.com has the most info as if has been around for a very long while.
In time this website will also have a good amount of info but it takes members like you to help us get there.
One thing I can say is we invest back in our websites here. We give the members a back bone that you will not find anywhere.
We have 3 brand new servers with Dual 3.0+ XEON's and each server has 8 SCSI HD's with T3's coming out the ying yang.
Most users ever online was 1086 on 12-01-2003 at 09:37 PM. proof that we can hold a load. Thing is we are capable of holding 4 times that and still allow a dial up member to cruise without stalling.
Just remember this AR15 board of ours is new as in put up this year back in the summer. Give it some time and I am not saying in the next 2 years either. Rome was not built in a day. We hope more AR15.com members become members here. There knowledge is important to everyone. What would happen if AR15.com crashed for good. You can't have all your eggs in one basket.
Owner may not agree with each other or with each others staff. But that should NEVER come between the general rank and file members. Knowledge is power and we invite all AR15.com members to help each other out.

Staff,
I agree completely that it will take time to build a knowledgable member base to get this site on par with others that have been established for some time , but having members here pout off about how bad AR15.COM and how the mods over there lock everyone account and are vindictive and such is utter BS.
How are you going to create a knowledgable member base with comments as those above. This site needs pics of an AR with an Aimpoint ML2 mounted in front of the TA01NSN ACOG. Why? Because people will ask what for? Then some knowledge will be share and interests will be peaked.
Bilster comments are completely off base. Yeah it's a competition over at AR15.COM to have the best rig, but that is what causes innovation. What does everyone want to have a SP1 Slabside? Thought not....
Until this site gets the members who have been in the game for a long long time to start posting and sharing their knowledge and the manufacturers who create the kick-ass components for AR15 to start advertising, the AR forums here will not amount to much.
Again, with comments like the ones above, it just turns prospective members and advertisers away.
I have been at AR15.com for a few years, The one thing I have learned, Dont post anything unless it is in GD...Everyone knows more than you do abot the AR-15....Even the guys from Kalifornia.

TacWac, most of all the old timers from AR15.com are here under different usernames. I would say a good 300+ members who use to post there don't and have not been back. Very few old timers there as most of them have taken up here and asked us never to reveal who there were. I guess what I am saying is a good portion of the original brain trust that helped jump start AR15.com is alive and well over here and they are also members on other websites as well. Lets just say some people are not impressed with the current amount of info being spread around over there on the AR15 topic. Again this is not and never was who dog is bigger. There is no competition. Why??? Our website does not need them or anything about them.
What I can say is the majority of members here don't have the chip on the should attitude when it comes to explaining to other members about weapons in general. Why cause for many years AK's was considered the blue collar kind of weapon so the members here more more laid back. Well it has rubbed off now into many gun discussion forums here at Guns Network, versus my rig is better then your rig kind of discussion.
Anyways, it takes people like you to help build a good AR15 discussion. We are not looking for GREAT AR15 website, nope we just want a well informed database of rock sloid info.

TacWac, what exactly is your purpose here? Positive or Negative contribution?
This forum is young and is still growing. It's purpose is not to compete with, beat out, undermine, or eliminate AR15.com. It's purpose is singular! To allow GUNSNET members to discuss all types of firearms, specifically the AR15 here. And to allow questions to be asked by those thinking about owning an AR.
If you want to step up to the plate and contribute your knowledge, you are more than welcome.
Is there a question unanswered that you would like to answer for someone?
Is there a forum that you think should be here that's not?
Do you have some kind of marketing strategy to make this forum come alive?
If you're not here to help out, or discuss ARs in a constructive manner, take your negativity back to AR15.com and enjoy yourself. Really! Be happy there, without making people unhappy here.
If you want to play a part in sharing information about the AR and it's clones, you are encouraged to do so. Otherwise, you're just one of those arfcom guys that want to encourage separating the defenders of the 2nd Amendment!

I think that healthy competition only helps everyone. Insults or demeaning comments only drag one side down and makes them look petty.
We could all easily analyze that this site is popular simply because of the purchase of Ian's old board and domain name, but we can definitely see improvements to it. Without AR15.com around, this place wouldn't have half the things they have, which have been "borrowed" to improve the site and keep it on par with it. Memberships, merchandise, shit even the look and feel of the ak-47.net site were all borrowed from ar15 simply because it was a great gun site. Even Ian knew this.
Let's enjoy each site for what it brings! I plan on bringing my AK and AR knowledge to both and enjoy both, so I hope we can bury old arguments and anger which were forged in bullshit of days gone by.
Glad to be here!
