I would appriciate it, if anyone out there could tell me before I order A vertical foward pistol grip(romanian) for my sar-1 is it going to be legal? I don't think it would be illegal since the hanguard on the rifle now is not one of the U.S. parts!

I believe its legal, but they look dorky. I have only seen a few that look good and those are just photos of an amd-65. If you find a good one let me know. thanks

I use them on all my select-fire AK's. It's SO much better in full auto fire, as it gives you something to hang onto and helps keep you on target. Mine are from K-VAR. Word of warning, though-since we are on the 'full-auto' board-the finish on the Romanian handguards will bubble up pretty quickly from the barrel heat. An old Mujahadeen trick was to wrap the handguard with strips of cloth to keep them from catching on fire so easily. Once you shoot with a vertical grip AK, you won't shoot a horizontal grip again, as your front hand is in an un-natural position with the horizontal grip. The vertical grip keeps your hand in a natural position, which makes the gun much more comfortable to fire.
