Hello,

I've been thinking about building my own AR for a while now.
Mainly cause i'd like the hands on experience of putting it together. To understand beter how it all works
I have no experience with building any type of gun. Taking MY Bushmaster apart for cleaning is about as far as i've been.

I have a few questions & when I have questions about guns this is where I ask. So here goes...

-How difficult of a job will it be, something someone with good comon sence can do, or will it take some real work getting everything together?

-What tools will I need for the Lower reciver?

-Tools for the Upper?

-About what Price range (over estimate please) Will the tools be?

-Do you have any sugested reading I can find online with details?

-What am I not asking that I should be asking?

Thanks for reading weather you can or can't suggest anything :)

~Will

A couple of small punches is about all you need in the line of tools as most kits come as sub assembleys. I built mine with a seperate barrel and top receiver and had to buy a barrel wrench that cost about ten dollars.1/16 th and a1/8 th in. punch at the lumber yard for about 8 bucks for both. There are a lot of small parts springs detent balls and such to keep track of. Get a good exploded view off the net for reference. These guns are pussy meat compared to a AK.Not hard at all.Keeping track of all those little parts is the hardest thing IMO.Have fun.:D

This is no rocket science, with a set of small punches, a hammer, long needle pliers and duct tape (to protect the finish of the lower) and two hrs. of work you will be all set.

Get the upper fully assambled and test fired, put the two toghether and you are done.

I encourage you to do the lower, it is really easy and like you said, you will learn a lot about the internals and proper function of your rifle.

Price different kits and configs from many vendors on this board, figure what you want (A2 vs. flattop; 20" vs 16"; choice of stock fake collapsible or A2) etc. than comback and we will guide your right.

Go for it :D

It really isn't hard I even have a copy of the M-16TM in pdf format that would show you how to and the proper specs for certain parts.
