5.45X39 Drum

I posted a question on the "MAGAZINE" Forum, maybe it should be here where it belongs. It seems that a 5.45X39 RPK is a little under fed by a "Box" or "Banana" mag......Were there no 5.45 drums brought into the US ? Can't ever remember them if they were...Has anyone ever tried to modify a 7.62 drum to 5.45?

They used 45 round mags for the RPK 74

Russia tinkered with a 5.45mm drum. It did not meet their expectations so it was never fielded. Notice how the feed tower is positioned...the drum lays flat underneath the receiver!
