Try putting some luminous tape cut out into an upside "U" shape about 0.25 inches in length on the front sight (shooter's side) below the front sight post...a triangle works well too(point up)...glue it to the front sight with some locktite....then just before sunset you'll have to charge it to glow with a pen light or flashlight....poor mans version of trijicon...it also helps in night shooting to find your front sight post...works well out to 50yards.........cutting out a flat "u" shape also can aid in target distance also, a man 6ft tall standing at 300yards will be approx. this size.......so if you put your standard front sight on him and he is no wider than the sight post then he is less than 500yards, then if he is samller than your tape he is between 300 and 500 yards...adjust your 'hold off' and squueeezzzeee!!!...it's cheap, works, hope it helps.....out

I`m always amazed at how many people haven`t ever looked thru the sights of their AR at night.

The whole idea behind the peep/aperature type of sight is to take away ambient light to help your eyes focus on the target only,....................but at night it`s gone, totaly gone.

very, very tough to focus.
I have the triji`s on my A2 and they help a bit but nothing like a lighted/illuminated reticle.

your idea is sound, I used to hunt coyotes quitea bit and that was a night time activity...........might be of use to the thrifty.

trained to look over the rear sight and "through" the front at night, of course that was with a 2-3 round burst:D. I find if I mount and get a good cheek weld, keep both eyes open and look at the target, I can keep most rounds on a man size target out to 100 meters at night. That is of course if I can see the target.;)

Right, they shied away from actually telling you to walk the bullets into a target but that`s sorta what had to happen sometimes.

But when things got rather heated..........I don`t remember ANY sights at all.
Every time

I have a trijicon bar style front sight post on my
