Please see my reply to the US parts post. Don't be too hard on the dealers, after all is must be a trifle uncomfortable to be selling AK's in any form these days! Be glad someone is willing to take the heat so you can buy them, at least for now. Do your homework, stay cool, and don't do anything stupid, and maybe we'll be able to enjoy semi-auto's for a few more years. Threaten the dealers with legal BS and they will give up, then where will we be?
Use the rifle as sold with the mags supplied and you will be within the law. Deviate from this, and you have been warned of possible consequences, so know the law and have an answer.

Bruce,
I think your the one who needs to take a break! Who said anything about threatening legal action??? I'm very thankfull we can still buy post-ban guns with pistol grips. All we want to know is what parts are in our guns! Is this to much to ask? What is the use of buying a gun that can "accept" hi-cap mags if you can't use them legally. Century puts a little note in the box with your gun that says: "Use of imported magazine in this firearm MAY be in violation of ATF regulations". Why can't they just say YES or NO? What is this "MAY" crap? You would think Century would be a little clearer in order to cover their butts and the butts of the people who spent their hard earned money on centurys product. Thats customer service!
I'm sure they are not doing business out of the goodness of their heart. But only to make money.

in defense of Bruce --I WAS THE ONE THAT THREATENED LEGAL ACTION --BUT read in the other post on why i would do this
my reasons were that --if a person with a US parts AK, was pulled over and taken to jail and had to fight a big legal battle, cuz the AK owner could not tell or prove to the cop that his AK was 100% legal with US parts, he would have to prove to the courts that he was within the law --but we have NO PROOF to show to cops or the courts
BECAUSE ??? of Centurys Negligance to provide the AK owner with documentation showing that the gun is 100% legal with this or that part ---i think you could then sue century over this matter
what is so difficult with them tossing a peice of paper with the gun stating that this gun is 100% legal and has this/that US part, and providing a quote of the law
they could at least tell the customer who calls them, which part is US and what isnt
everyone with a SAR/Maadi are in a cloud of mystery and this could be TROUBLE FOR US, VERY EXPENSIVE LEGAL FELONIOUS TROUBLE
i dont want my legal record and life ruined cuz century cant get there head out of there ass and tell us what parts are US
whats so dificult about that ?
i know they are doing the bare minimum to keep the gun legal, i would do this too and this is what they should do, the bare minimum is fine, screw the ATF, but at least tell us what is LEGAL
damn now i sound like a scum sucking lawyer

All right, guys. We all know Century isn't exactly a benevolent organization. It seems like most arms dealers are pretty heavy on the profit motive. Still, I find it hard to believe they aren't under pretty intense scrutiny selling the kind of merchandise that they do. Seems to me it would be a nice step toward a promotion for a BATF agent to nail a big dealer like them, so they probably have to keep it pretty clean.
I think there is enough info posted on this board to tell what parts are in your gun. Plus there is plenty of info on 922r, so you can know where you stand even without hearing from Century.
Also, I have never heard of an individual being called on a 922r violation just because he was stopped on the way to the range. I would guess that if you do something bad and they wanted to pile on some extra charges is when they would get technical. Anyone out there ever hear differently?

I believe that most of the AK's that I have seen come out using the american parts method, have been shabby interpertations of the pre ban AK's. The one I purchased was the SSR99, which proved to be of great quality in parts and assembly. The only other notable mention are the Intrac/Ohio Ordnance guns. They are not bad but for the going rate of 600 or so dollars, they are not of high enough quality. Yes the SSR99 is in the 700-800 dollar range but is of high quality in every aspect. So I tend to believe that most of these companys are in it for the fast buck. Arsenal USA on the other hand is trying to build a product that makes them a buck and builds them a reputation for quality. One by one I disqualified the american parts AK's until I received the SSR99. My big problem was every time I ordered another AK specimen, I ended up disapointed and being it was thru the shop I worked for, I needed to sell it off in order to get other AK's in. It was all worth the wait when I finally received two SSR's at the shop. Once I seen and handled it, I knew it was the one I wanted.
