I am wondering if anyone knows if the process by which the barrel threads are removed on Maadis might damage the accuracy of the weapon? Someone said that removing the threads might be what causes the front sight posts to be tilted but I am talking about actual damage to the barrel.

The barrel threads are removed AHEAD (in front of) the front sight post and have NO bearing on the mounting of the front sight post. I dought if the thinness of the barrel in that small area would hurt accuracy.

I read somewhere that the machine or lathe that takes off the threads is sometimes carelessly run into the already installed site post torcing it to one side. Don't know if it is true or not. The Romanians I have seen don't have threads and also don't look thin in front of the site yet some have complained of canted posts on them also. I would like to know how this is happening just for curiosity.

I've heard the same thing. Something to do with how the rifle is mounted in the machine tends to bend or push the sight a little.

Since we are on the topic of threads or lack thereof on the MISR's I have a question. My MISR the end of the barrel is smaller than the rest of the barrel. (due to removal of threads) How does this affect putting on a muzzle break? Does anyone know of a particular one that works well? Since the barrel is smaller are there any out there can still be attached? What about JB welding on a pin on or threaded break? Possible? legal?
I know I can't have a flash suppressor but I would like a muzzle break at least.
thanks all!

The guy who put mine on just slipped a little band on before attaching the break and there is no play at all. A pinned on slant style, for $25 total and took 10 minutes. I let the paint dry for 48 hours before touching it.
