I have seen ads for these DIAS. The ads imply you buy it for 245.00, they send you a piece of paper with BATF "rules" , ya drop it in and bam full auto LEGALLY! What gives? I keeping hearing warning bells! I would think you need transfer fee and all necessary applications for full auto sear and it would be only for a specific weapon.
TIA:confused:

You can own these as long as you DO NOT OWN AN AR15 rifle and/or any ar15 parts. to have these in the same place constitutes intend to manufacture a machine gun and ATF will frown very hard at this, and it is a long prison sentance that goes with it.
Yes it does sound to good to be true. yes you can order legally, but it can never legally be near a gun. that is the catch.
Transferable DIAS are running $4000 and up, plus the $200 transfer tax.
You warning bells were correct..........

Now if you were a Class 2 manufacturer of Firearms you could use(make your own.....), register on Form 2 with ATF.

Jaybird.... your welcome
Darkman......I wouldn't waste my time doing that, just convert some receivers over to post dealer samples. We have a number or dealer sample DIAS, and discovered that they dont like 9mm uppers. The 9mm uppers tear the crap out of them in a short period of time.......

Love2Shoot,
I was just explaining the DIAS process for a C2. But you are right, my conversion is made the right way with an auto sear.

A friend of mine bought not one of those but two of them .He called me up and told me to come over and look at his new toys. He was all excited and filling out an order form for the necessary M-16 parts you need to make the things work when I gave him the bad news . Man was he pissed. He was just about in tears when I told him he couldnt do that legally. That was a pretty exspenive lesson, but I dont feel too bad for him as he has more money than he knows what to do with anyway.:D

xxklash,
Thanks for the posting this article. Since I orginally posted my question, I have seen more numerous ads, as seen in Shotgun News and and various and sundry "gun magazines". It's great the author took the time to write this piece, as it is important information that may help others from unknowingly making a bad decision.

Many people think that these are stings by the ATF to entrap people, I dont know about that, it seems that the ATF has better things to do.
I asked a guy about these at Knob Creek last year, he told me that they are legal, but its just a $245 paper weight... because if you own an AR and this gizmo, then you can be charged with intent to build an illegal MG.
I learned in the military that you cant hit squat with an M16 on FA, it sounds cool, but when I bump fire my AR and try to keep on a target, man I'm all over that burm!
IMHO, FA is about as cool as doing a burnout with my corvette, its cool a few times, but those tires are expensive! And so is ammo.

Sorry but am with xxklash on these one. these thing’s are illegal with ar 15 or no ar15 because the are machine gun pars and ATF has ruling on that!! also you cant prove if it is b 4 81 or after because the never had serial numbers on them and in the court it is your duty to prove that it is not, not ATF’s that it is not but you can get one registered for 10,000!! But it sucks because it well destroy your receiver also if it brakes you can’t get a new one or repair like you can with FA m16 receivers
Ps I fired a FA m16 and it was coolest ting aver yes you can hit targets easily but you have to go burst if you empty the clip all in one’s you well not be able to achieve 3fett groups

Unfortunately some of the people in my circle at least use a little knowledge to here what they want to not the facts thanks again for posting it.
By the way all the other posters in this thread also did an excellent job A well done to everyone.......................................... ....ANT

Here's my silly question...What happens when you own a legal Class 3 M16 with stamp....and....also own an AR 15????
Can you have extra parts for the M16????
I actually may end up checking with BATF on this one...But...It hasbeen a conundrum I've been wrestling with....Thanks for your thoughts...
