Hey Everyone
I have always been a fan of the Makarov and Tokarev, I got the Mak last year. But I have always wanted to try the 7.62x25mm so I bought A Tok

Its a Chinese Norinco T-54 in 7.62x25mm, it came with 2, 8 round magazines, an uncle mikes holster and 400 rounds of Seller and Bellot.

I paid $175 for it so I hope I did ok.

I still havent fired it yet, The safety has been removed so I might have to replace it. I know the original T-54 didnt have a safety. But I kind of like the idea of one.

Let me know what you guys think

All that for 175? Someone ELSE got ripped off! You did good.......Around here, and on the net, the chinese toks go for about 150-200..........The 400 rounds of ammo included is awesome.......And a holster? Wow.

That's a real good deal, especially with all the accessories.

I've got a Norinco T-54, its a good pistol like all Toks, reliable.
The accuracy is nothing to write home about, but not too terrible.

Don't worry about the safety, I took mine off, too.
They are a total piece of junk, that doesn't do anything, but cause problems.

I use the half- cock, as a safety, on my Toks.
I know a lot of people would disagree with doing this, but I trust it more that the cheesy add-on safeties.

After all this was the "original" safety for these guns.

That or leave the chamber Unloaded and Jack a round in when you need it.
I cant wait to shoot it.
Did you fill in the hole where the safety went with anything?
thanks

BuckShott..

It Won't Hurt Anything If You Leave It Open...But If You Really Want To Fill It In,There Is A Marine Epoxy Made By 3M(I Think) Commonly Refered To As "5200" That You Can Purchase From West Marine That When It Hardens...Is Probally STRONGER Than Steel...My Boss Just Spent 2 Years Remodelling His Sailboat And He Used The 5200 To Fill In Some Holes Where Old Fixtures Used To Be...If He Did'nt Sand It Before It Cured All The Way Through...He Could'nt Sand It At All...Takes Forever To Drill Through...The Stuff Is Awesome...The DOT Uses The Stuff TO GLUE BRIDGES!!(Yes,Glue The Seams...That's How Strong This Stuff Is)

Just Degrease The Gun Using A Solution Of MEK(Found At Home Depot) And Water To Degrease The Gun,Then Place A Piece Of Either Regular Or Metal Duct Tape On The Inside Where The Hole Is...Then Use A toothpick To Fill In...Just Make Sure You Clean Up Well Before It Dries,Or It Will Never Come Off.Once Dry...Remove Tape...Sand Where Necessary And Then Clean And Oil Gun Like Normal...That's It...

Hmmm
hadnt thought of that. I probably wont do that to the tok but...I do hav some other uses for a hard glue like you mentioned. Sounds like a perfect way to fill those pesky holes left over from Converting a SAIGA rifle back to AK configuration, Fill, sand and Paint. and no one would ever know.
Thanks!

I still haven't found a good fix, for the hole.
Mine's just a shooter, so I don't worry too much about its looks.

I've also got two Polish Toks, when I want to show-off a Tok, I pull one of them out.
The add-on safety is by the trigger, on them.
I've never used the safeties, but they haven't caused any problems, so I haven't felt the need to to remove them.

I asked about a fix for the hole on the Chinese myself, but most of the suggestions involve welding, or soldering.
I don't like the idea of heating the frame.

I've considered epoxy, but haven't tried it.
My experiments with glues, and epoxies, on guns, haven't turned out to well.
They usually crack, or rattle loose, after awhile.

If you find a good fix, let me know.

$210 would have been closer to market value.
Don't throw away the S&B brass.
I buy S&B ammo just to pull the bullets to get the brass.
It is stronger than Starline, but has just as much capacity.

He started it at $210 for the ToKarev , Ammo, and the holster.
Whats wrong with the S&B ammo? Is that the stuff that you cant shoot in the tokarev because its too powerful and made for the CZ52?

Let me know
thanks

Tokarevs can take any 7.62x25mm ammo.
It is the weak CZ52s with paper thin chambers that blow up.

I regularly increase the powder charge in Tokarevs until the primer falls out from primer pocket growth of the brass. I have blown up 2 CZ52s at much lower pressures.

Well I finally got the Tokarev t-54.

I LOVE IT!!!
Its great fun to shoot and I am very accurate with it. I shot 50 rounds though it last night, and I was very impressed. The only thing I dont like is the gaping hole where the safety was. Ohwell.
The S&B non corrosive ammo is really good stuff. It shot very well im looking foward to shooting the other 450 rounds.

It came with two mags that functioned flawlessly and the holster was an old uncle mikes shoulder holster the guy I bought it from modified to suit his needs. So its now a cross draw with a magazine pouch attached for the spare.

Just thought Id let you know.

I've used the S&B ammo in my 7.62x25 Polish TT-33. It's great ammo. It's a little hotter than the surplus Yugoslavian stuff. All the Yugoslavian ammo is corrosive. I shoot mostly the Yugo stuff in mine, just because it's so cheap. The S&B is fairly inexpensive too, but nobody in my area stocks it.

Through the chrono, the S&B stuff clocked at about 1500fps out of my TT-33. The Yugo was about 1400fps.

Although my TT-33 does have the safety, I rarely, if ever, use it. The TT-33 was intended to used with the half cock. Once you get used to it, you prefer it to the thumb safety.

I left the safety, because if you remove it, you're left with a hole in the side of the gun, which not only unsightly, it can also allow dirt and crud access to the interalls of your gun.

I haven't tried it, but I think that original grips can be installed even with the safety, but the safety will nolonger be operable.

Personally, I wouldn't fill the hole with any kind of glue. The Polish Tokarevs have a nice finish on them, and it would be a shame to mess it up. -Duffman

The Polish TT-33 Are really nice. But My gun is a Type-54 that has the safety behind the grip on the left hand side of the pistol. Apparently they had to have a stupid safety but on them for Importation laws. Anyway someone removed it so there is a hole in the reciever. I really like the Tokarev, So far i think its my favorite pistol. I am also a big fan of the Makarov. I was thinking about filling the hole with Mig welder and filing and refinishing the rear half of the pistol.

For some reason I thought that it a Polish one, I guess Duffman has had too much Duff. :D

Anyway, if you did a nice job welding it, and then refinished it, that would be good idea. Just be careful about the temper.

I like my Tokarev alot too. It didn't cost alot, but it is a really nice little gun. It is as accurate as any other semi-auto pistol out there, and it is very reliable. Aside from an odd problem I had related to the recoil spring, I've never had any jams, except those caused by bad ammo.

I like the feel of the Tokarev. The grip is not too wide, which fits my hand better.

Those Makarovs look interesting too. I plan on getting one at some point. -Duffman
