Sorry if this isn't the best place for this question but I couldn't find a better spot... Didn't there use to be a Tactical/Long Range Forum?

Anyhoo... Do US Nave S.E.A.L snipers ever use ghillie suits? I know they have snipers (I've seen the cool pictures of 'em shooting from in the water) but I've never seen one in a ghillie suit.

I was thinking about different sniper tactics and philosophies and it occured to me that if they didn't use ghillies they might also have some interestingly different tactics and methods.

Thanks,

B

Does that belong to a SEAL?

How can you tell?

The site I got it from said so. If the web says it, it's gotta be true!! :p

I would imagine that being one of the elite SpecOps, they have anything they want, and do just about every military mission there is - including sniping...

use what is needed for the mission, if that calls for a ghillie suit, they use one. If not they don't . Ghillie suits are great camoflage, but very uncomfortable. At least the one I had was. The few Seals I met, no more cared for the ghillie then I did, but they did know how to use one.;)

To add a little something. Some SEALS have started using a ghillie type system that covers the sholders head and some of the back. This has gained popularity because of its light weight. Looking at it head on it does a good job of disrupting the silouette. I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it ,sorry.
