Looks like the two shots I took at this baby during Isabel completely missed. ;) It seems that said hog made it back to his home safe and sound yesterday. I must have overcompensated the drop for the shot both times and I suffered a nasty slide bite on my supporting hand in the web of my thumb to boot.

Today it was personal. I pulled into my driveway and saw that little bugger sitting there eating like he didn't have a care in the world. He took off quick enough when I pulled up, but he was apparently hungry enough to ignore my car and me sitting there patiently waiting for him to come back out. I didn't move a muscle and he walked right out into view again just as pretty as you please. He was in a good spot with no worries about where the bullet would go after it either hit or missed. When he went down to take a bite of the leafy foliage, I slowly brought the pistol up into position pausing when he picked his head up to chew and take a look around looking for threats. He never moved closer to me (that was what I was waiting for). I finally got sick of waiting and I had the pistol where I wanted it (this time with no supporting hand in the way). The groundpig was almost facing me, but he was slightly askew with his right side just visible from this angle. It wasn't the angle I wanted, but I had to shoot when the traffic was gone and I didn't want to lose the opportunity. I waited until there was no traffic within audible/visible range and took the shot. As soon as the groundhog reacted, I could tell that it was a very good hit.:ywoot It jolted and then didn't move too much for a sec while it took stock of it's new ventillation shaft and then when I charged out of the car, it tried to take off but only made a couple of steps. Of course, at that exact moment, a car drives into view (I didn't hear or see it coming as it came from around a blind curve about five seconds after the shot) and the occupants get to watch me charge from my car with a pistol drawn running asshole to elbows toward this groundhog. It must have been quite a sight I'm sure. :D

As you can see the entry probably transected the heart given the angle it entered. I know I hit that sucker center mass and the bullet never exited, so it probably transected almost the entire length of the hog's body diagonally before running out of steam. The bullet did it's job very well and I wish I could find more like it. I'm very happy with the outcome as you could guess. 35 yards or so and with a .45 Para Ordnance Limited. Does anyone wanna guess how much I love this gun?:D

Thank you sir. My next post is gonna be about a whole pack of dogs in my neighborhood that like to bark at me in the dark while standing on my property. They've got a suprize coming when I get batteries for my flashlight...
