The upper portion of the RPK's front trunnion which is wider than the standard 1.25 inch wide receiver and has a single rivet, attaches to the receiver in what manner?

From photographs, it appears that a separate piece attaches to the trunnion and overlaps the receiver, however, perhaps the receiver is built wider in this area.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well--To answer my own question--the kindness of George let me know that the stamped receiver is wider there.

Has anyone cut and welded that configuration onto a three piece?

Winn,

After much thinking, I am considering building my RPK as a hybrid,
starting with an 1/8" thick ACE ARMS weld pack. I am thinking of milling the area of the receiver (not the trunnion) where the bulge is. Weld the top edge of the receiver to the bulged area of the trunnion. Using rivets on the bottom of the barrel trunnion and rear trunnion.

When I do this, we will move the post to the "Build it Yourself" forum.

The receiver was welded and the notch cut where the trunnion is wider, however the trunnion is loose.

Would someone mic the inside of a RPK and verify what I suspect, that the wall thickness is added to the inside and the inside dimensions are 1 3/16" instead of 1 1/4"?

Why don't you just buy a Vepr in the caliber of your choice and save your welding skills for building up the back of the receiver!

BTW, I have any dimension you need from Russian RPK trunion area, including shell thickness, please be more specific in your needs.
