Frankly, I love my MISR Maadi. Granted, I got it for $300(we had to get 3 of the things) but we had out pick of a lot and rummaged around till we found the three that we liked. Yeah, the stock finish is horrible, but a little formby's fixed that. My dad busted and made himself a regular grip for his(see other post about saiga) and it works granted he had to make his own bolt for where the pistol grip went. It looks a bit strange but it fires great. I will post pics of mine when I get it finished, since I am refinishing the whole thing.

Another satisfied MAADI owner!
Mine is a Misr-10 that came with a proper stock to start (no thumb hole stock).
The finish is poor, but is shoots nice.
The action is smooth as well.
The only things I wish they had done differently are:
1). double strack clips instead of single stack.
2). Put the hole in the stock for the cleaning kit.
3). better finish.

Personnally I believe people are to hard on the misr guns. If you pick a decent one they can be a very functional gun. I would not buy one unseen myself though
For those doubting the accuracy of a misr 90 I had my old thumbhole beater chinese/egyption hybrid gun out today. Set a stump with a target at about 200 yrds at camp today. Practically drilled a 3-4 inch hole in it rapid fire with 120rds of e.german FMJ.

They shoot fine, and I'm actually starting to like the appearance of them because it sort of makes them look like a vietnam war bring-back. When you take them out of the box new they sort of scream "heah, thanks for bringing me back from all that combat I faced on the Chechyn front." http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif

Hell yeah....brothers
My USA/Maddi HI Cap goes on every backpacking I go on....once a month. I have fired 10,000 rounds out of it, and it begs for more. Most shooting has been done in adverse conditions on longs backpackin' trips. Just imagine how dirty a rifle gets after having been exposed to the elements for a few days.....snow, mud, rain, etc...nothing has ever made it misfire. I have had mud, snow and grass in the receiver, and it always can feed the FMJ stuff with zero problems. Just clean em every night after firing...... i can't wait to finish the wood here in the next couple weeks, gonna give my baby a facelift.
