View Full Version : Century Arms - Why so secretive on USA parts?

I had read elsewhere that Century Arms was not too friendly in discussing the USA parts in the kits they are putting on their Maadis. So, I made my own inquiry about the Misr which will accept the higher capacity mags and was told Century does not make lists of U.S. parts to guns available to the public. The rifle is in full compliance with BATF, and if you have any additional questions, call your local BATF office. Well, I need to know some more info before the BATF could help me.

My questions are: WHY is Century so secretive about the US parts?

I suppose they had to make the parts known to the BATF. Is that public record that one could get from the BATF or elsewhere?

What do they expect people who want to stay in compliance to do if a part breaks and needs repair?

I've seen 2 or 3 different guesses as to the USA parts in the rifles. Does anyone really know?

Thanks

If it's anything like the SAR-1, then the US parts are the pistol-grip, the hammer, the trigger, and the disconnector. You need to use US made floorplates and followers on the SAR-1. The MAADI has a US-made hammer, trigger, disconnector and pistol-grip, but the buttstock and handguards puzzle me. They are poor examples of laminated wood and I haven't read a post where the MAADI required US-floorplates and followers. Best of luck.

I think you have that backwards Tinman99. I believe the SAR-1 does not need US made mag plates and followers but the MISR does require them in order to still remain "10 or less". Of course, I have an MISR and like everyone else, I use anything that fits in it.
