Never dreamt that there would be a site like this for Maadi's- Thanks!
Can you guys give me some info for a good quality scope mount? My Maddi is a terrific blaster but shoots WAY left and can't be adjusted. I put a Milette Red Dot on one of my SKS's and I want to do the same to the Maadi. I'd appreciate any info.

I just installed a dust-cover scope mount for my Maadi MISR-90. Real easy to install.. no gunsmithing. Inexpensive too.. $17.95 from Classic Arms. It comes with 2 set screws and a front flange that keeps everything in place. Plus 1" quick mount rings. It is a see-through mount, so you can still use your iron sights.

I zeroed in quite nicely, and it remained accurate after 100 rounds. The only drawback is that you have to take the mount off in order to clean your rifle.

If you just want a scope for pinkling or to play around with, this setup should be fine.. If you want something more serious, then get the side-rail mount.

Just my $.02

I used one of those cheap chinese top cover scope mounts. What a piece of cr*p! When I would tighten the screws on it the point of impact would move! I found a much sturdier top cover mount at a gun show. It is ribbed and it came in a simple little brown box. It is made out of STEEL not soda can like the chinese mount.

TRY ONE OF TANTALs MTK-01B SIDE RAIL MOUNTS. EASY TO INSTALL WITH ONLY TWO SCREWS AND WILL ALLOW YOU TO USE MOST OF THE RUSSIAN STYLE MOUNTS, SCOPES ETC., AS WELL AS THE K-VAR WEAVER RAIL WHICH LETS YOU USE ALMOST ANYTHING OUT THERE!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

I dont know about you guys but I am pretty afraid of drilling any holes into my ak. I just came back from the range. Im telling you guys that inexpensive top cover mount that is ribbed and is made out of STEEL is worth its weight in GOLD!Not the cheap Leapers mount! I dissasembled my rifle and ran bore snake thru it then I would put the topcover back on along with a Wal-Mart Tasco red Dot and my rifle did not loose its ZERO! I did it a few times for good measure. I really recomend it.:) :)

I've been tinkering around with the idea of scoping my Maadi, but after much research, side mount it s the only way to go for me. I know that it will require drilling holes in the side of the receiver, but any nucklehead could do this in a reasonible amount of time with a simple hand drill...its not complicated at all...much like the AK itself...extreme simplicity, yet fully functional....

Just my thoughts on it....

MISRy, don't you mean Carbide instead of Carbon? But who needs them when I only use TiN coating bits...much much harder...

Hey Keychain,
Hope youre doing well? What about these TiN coating bits, and where might I get them? Getting tired of wearing out conventional bits after each reciever job.

HELP IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED

RAWFIRE, I've been doing just fine...You can find the TiN bits at just about any local hardware store, or you can order them online from Grizzly Industrial (http://www.grizzlyindustrial.com/fcgi-bin/lookup.fcgi/products/lookup.cfg?q=sub_category&kw=Drill%20Bits) for a decent price...Just look for the nice shiny gold bits...its a dead givaway...they are normally HSS bits with a Titanium Nitride coating...its really hard stuff...try them and you'll like the results, trust me...
