Well folks, I finally done it. I have completely refinished my latest Maadi. I stripped the wood and rubbed it with linseed oil last week as well as stripping the cheasy ass paint off the bolt carrier and polished it with a buffer and jewelers rouge. Today I bead blasted the metal down to the bare surface and refinished it semi-gloss stainless using TRGunKote. This is some really tough stuff, not to mention that it has self lubricating properties due to it containing molybdium disulphide. I also gave the internal parts (hammer, trigger and disconnector) a healthy coating to help prevent any possible wear. As far as the sights go, I left the back of the rear sight black as well as the front post, this is to maintain a disernable sight picture. Let me kow what ya think about it.

Looks good. Maybe you could post another pic in the sunlight without the glare. this gun kote is paint? My roommate just got a MISR-10, and it needs a refinishing job-BAD! I myself own a SSR-99, and love the factory park job.

p22916, I tried to take another picture but the camera's battery was too low, so I'll have to charge it and try again tomorow. The TRGunkote is a finish that is sprayed on using an external mix airbrush and baked in an oven to cure it. It was originally developed by NASA a few years ago. For more info on the TRGunKote, check out www.tenring.com (http://www.tenring.com) . They are located in San Antonio and will answer any questions that you have about it. It is the best gun finish in my opinion on the market, totally rust prove! Hope this answers your question.

Thanks for the imfo keychain, I'll look into it. Just a consideration, as Arsenal USA will parkerize any AK for an intro rate of $65.00. Thanks again.

Not a battle rifle, but attractive. Too bad you can't get fancy wood for it and make it look like a commerative edition AK. There's a M14 at Springfield Armory National Historic Site. Presented to President Eisenhower, it featured highly polished and blued metal which was accented with fancy walnut which was polished to a high gloss. Looking at the finish, one would never suspect that such a gun started out as a standard military weapon.
