Hey!

Is there anyone on the board that has actually converted one of the new single stack Maadi's to double stack? (Or sat down and compared the trunions and mag latches of the two variants?) If so how much has to be changed on the rifle? If it is just a matter of milling/grinding away the receiver then that sounds quite easy.

I did just see recently one of the new pistol grip standard mag versions with the american parts at a shop.

After seeing it I would have to agree that the Maadi will not win any beauty contests! Perhaps I have been spoiled by having owned an SA-85M. But all I am looking for now is a serviceable Kalsh rifle that does not have to look like a millon and I think the Maadi fits the bill.

Comment on the conversion question is appreciated,

I remember Mike doing Romanians. Did he do an Egyptian?

It may be a Romanian gun that I'm remembering and not a Maadi...I suppose the proceedure for the two would be virtually identical?

It was a romanian 991? in 5.45
The maddis are much easier i remember him saying and that the romanians are a lot of work to convert.

I seem to remember that Mike@MSC posted several months ago that he had done one to see if it could be done. He said it came out fine and was trying to sell it. I think he said it was a pain in the ass to do though...Nice handle by the way, the God of metal working and the weapon-smith to the Olympians. Cool. Try going to the FOR SALE board and searching for his post. It was a while back.
