Cris
3 post ban Maddi rifles were imported ARM with a 16" threaded barrel. RPM 20" threaded barrel. RML 20" alleged heavy barrel non threaded barrel.
The first paragraph of the Maddi ARM manual states " The semi-automatic rifle A RM 7.62x39mm. is a unique adoption of the automatic rifle A KM 7.62x39mm. made by Madddi Company For Engineering Industries, in Egypt." This is exsactly how it is written. I still can't figure out the why the spaces between the A and RM.
Each rifle came with a manual,5 rd mag, sling, cleaning kit, cleaning rod,and a "final inspection certificate for firearms and its components" that lists the model, caliber serial number, and date of mfg. Signed and stamped with a seal.
The quality is much better than the Egyptian receiver/Chinese parts MISR.
Email me for scans of the manual and cerificate.
Sure, i would love the scan of manual and certificate. how do i get your email address? So the arm is all egiptian, correct.
Thanks

JA,
I just checked my MAADI, and it has RML stamped on the side with a standard 16" barrel. You r post mentions a 20 HB for this model. Must been made with a left over RML stamped receiver. Any input of thoughts?
Hootbro
My RML manual lists the barrel lenght as 516mm,ARM manual lists the barrel lenght as 17",and RPM manual lists the barrel lenght as 516mm.
Hootbro,
What does your manual list as the barrel lenght on your RML?

JA,
I bought the gun second hand, so I do not have the manual. I rechecked again, and it is defintely a Maadi. It has the uniform typical black paint that alot of Maadi's have. The barrel does have the threads machined off at the end. All internals along with the receiver cover have matching numbers, so I do not think it was a kit gun. It has "Pars Itl, Lou KY" importer mark on the receiver. The serial # stamped on the trunion is ES 032XX.

I bought my Maadi in 1992. Pars intl Louisville KY was the importer. Very nice Maadi and most certainly very close to 1960's Soviet AKM rifle (especially with Soviet laminated wood, bakelite grip, and spoon comp http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/wink.gif ). I've run probably 5000 rounds through the rifle without a failure of anykind. I was thinking about getting another Maadi but the new MISR's are just too damn rough compared to the SAR-1 which I bought for my father for Christmas for $350. If I found a MISR cheap enough, I suppose I would buy it though!

Did anyone ever see a Maadi with a REAL 20" HEAVY Barrel? I remember seeing them advertised, but when you looked at them, they still had whipper snapper barrels on them. The barrel on my Maadi 20" is the diameter of my pinkie.

I saw a pre ban RML with a heavy barrel at a gunshow several years ago. It is the only one I have ever seen.
what size are the treads on the ARM? and is there a nut welded over them?
thanks
CRIS
The threads are the AK-47 standard 14x1mm LH. The nut is tack welded and a dremmel # 409 cut off wheel is just the ticket for removing them.
Are there any u.s parts on the gun? how many us. parts are needed to put a grip set on it.
Maadi's are made of all forgien parts except the ones being sold now with pistol grips. There are 16 parts on a AK and it has to have no more than 10 forgien parts to have a pistol grip.

JA, help me clarify something here-- I agree that a strict reading of the BATFs 20 part list indicates that the AK sans muzzle brake has 16 proscribed parts. Others on this board, however, (Tantal included) argue that the AK sans MB has only 15 proscibed parts, arguing that the rear trunnion is not counted. I see nothing in the BATFs statements that specifically exempt the rear trunnion. Your thoughts on this?
My count is frame,barrel,trunions(2-front and rear),bolt,bolt carrier,gas piston,trigger,hammer,sear,buttstock,pistol grip,forearm/handguard,mag body,follower,and floorplate=16 parts+ forgien muzzle attachement(spot welded nut)=17 parts.
The "(4)Mounting blocks (trunions)" doesn't say what is mounted on them i.e. barrel or stock.
Unless I see a letter from the BATF excempting the rear trunion from the parts count it will be in my count of imported parts.

Does anyone know what the current value of a Maadi ARM in 95% condition would be?
This is a hard one to answer it all depends where you are at. Prices seem to be higher in the north as opposed to the south. Here in Arkansas ads in the newspaper are asking $350-$450 for MAK's and Maadi's. Every gun I have bought from a ad in the newspaper I have given $100-$200 less than what the ad stated.
