Anyone recently got a Maadi from J&G sales?

I just ordered a Maadi from J&G for 290 buck. My local FFL will do the transfer for me for 30 bucks. This will be my first AK and I am a little concerned about quality. I know that according to this site, the Maadis are a little rough on the finish but work great. I am looking for someone who has recently gotten one from J&G if possible.

By the way, is what I paid a reasonable price for this AK?

I have recently purchased a Maadi rifle from a gun shop and I have had no problems with it. The wood was very rough, but I refinished it myself. It shoots very well, I am completely happy with it except i paid $500 for mine.

Thanks for your reply. Could you give me a discription of the receiver metal? I have heard that MISR Maadi recievers range from ok to very bad in appearance and finish. How is yours? Or anyone elses for that matter.

Bought a MAADI MISR (hi-cap) last month for $395 at the Cow Palace gun show in Kali. I consider it FAIR cosmetically. Typical black overspray on buttstock. Mediocre paint on reciever. Overall, it ain't nothing to write home about. It looks like an excellent basis for a refinishing & beautification project some day when I get REALLY bored. I haven't fired it, but it sure is nice to have one & beat the ban. http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif

I would have considered it a bargain for $295 to $350, but in Kali at that late date I wasn't in a good bargaining position. It was now or never.

BTW, I purchased the Hungarian 30's from Dave at Inland Armory. $14.00 each, shipping included. Very nice mags.
