I canceled my order of a Maadi from J&G and ordered a MISR-90 from Classic Arms. They were the same price but from the discriptions I was given over the phone, The MISR is a little better finished. I will let you know when I get it, this is my first AK. Hope it is a servicable rifle

why not move up and get a rom SAR ? im sure you will be a little happier
but the maadi is a good gun that makes a fun fixer upper, check out the pics posted here by someone that did that
both the maadi and SAR are known to have front site tilt, might want to order a RPK adj rear site for $20 from classic arms to correct this problem --HTH

I live in North Carolina about 40 miles from Classic Arms and I have to tell you their MISR-90 rifles look good. I have been in their store and seen them, and I hope to get one as my next rifle.

That is encouraging! I am expecting the rifle to get here at the end of the week. I didn't want a perfect rifle, like the Bulgarian, I couldn't afford that, just one that looks ok and runs good. I have a Bushmaster AR, a Russian SKS, and this AK will finish out my collection. Hope it is a good one!

I recently got a MISR maadi M90. Mine looks and shoots great! In fact, it hit paper at 150 yrds straight out of the box. I am very pleased w/ Classic Arms and the gun.

That is great to hear. Mine is on it's way. Should get here Friday or Monday. Probably Monday or Tuesday. I will let you all know how it looks. It it looks reasonably good and shoots good, I think it is a good deal for the 300 I paid for it.

i dont think you will be dissapointed when i got my maadi i thought, boy this sucker is ugly and the gas tube wasnt straight, but all that went away first time out at the range, she lays down massive amounts of firepower and never gets tired,if your any good working with wood you can make them look real pretty with a little work and alot of sandpaper.

Well, went and picked it up.

Here is what you get from classic Arms for 290 bucks plus the 30 I paid my ffl for the transfer.

Impressions

Wood:
Laminated buttstock and forearm. Not too bad on the Laquer but a little too much
Upper handguard is a darker finish. TO be honest, I don't think I am going to refinish the wood like I had planned to. It is not that bad.

Receiver:
The upper reciever cover looks like a new part to me. It looks painted but it is an even finish with no chips.

The receiver itself looks like some sort of heavey duty black painted finish. On the left side it has hardly any chips and is a fairly even finish.

The right side though is where the looks are a little rough. It has some chips in the paint down to the metal in various places. Not too bad, I was expecting worse.

Front sight cant:

It looks like the front sight is canted just a little bit to the right. You can barely tell just by looking at the gas tube. Not enough to ruin the looks of the rifle at all in my opinion.
Where you can really tell is that the front site has been adjusted to the left enough that it is obviously not centered. I would say about an 8th of an inch if that.

The bolt cycles smoothly and the trigger pull is about that of my Soviet SKS. I was expecting worse.

I am disapointed that there is no place in the buttstock to put a cleaning kit. It has a plastic buttpad with no opening.

Another small thing is that the inscribing on the reciever like caliber, importer, maker, serial number is mostly done with an inscribing pen of some kind and they didn't do a great job with that.

If the thing shoots reliably and is as accurate as an AK is expected to be then It is definatly a keeper.

What I kind of like about its rough looks is that it looks like the pictures I have always seen of used AKs in the field. If it runs good, I won't be getting rid of it.

Also, it is a heavy little rifle. I wasn't expecting that. It is built like a brick you know what house.

I will reply once more after I shoot it for a shooting report.

I hope this helps someone decide to or not to get an misr 90 from classic Arms.

That is what this thing called the web is all about as far as I am concerned. The best consumer reports there is.

The ffl where I did the transfer had a couple of Romanians priced at 499. They did look better then the Maadi I must admit. But not 200 bucks worth better. I tried to order the Romanian from Classic Arms when I first called them and they were backordered. I hate waiting once I decide to do something. None of the other places that had my Gunshops FFl on file would let me order it to send to him. They wanted him to do it. SO that is why I have this rifle. I don't think I am disapointed. Shooting will tell for sure.

I'm glad your MISR-90 turned out better than most. Classic Arms has some of the best MISr rifles I've seen. BTW, their store is in Indian Trail, NC, which is about 10 miles from Charlotte and is easy to find.
