Steven,
I picked up a Mossberg 250 .22 at a yard sale for 35.00. I don't know much about this model. I seek help from the master of information.
On the barrel it says:
New Haven
Model 250C 22SHV-L-LR
Made by O.T. Mossberg & sons inc.
North Haven, Conn., U.S.A.
I haven't found the serial number yet. It may be under the stock somewhere.

Scott, the rifle your describing is the Mossberg Model 250C which was a carbine version of the Model 250 series that were manufactued from about 1957-1971. The standard rifle version was known as the Model 250K. This series of rifle was actually marketed as the "New Haven by Mossberg" economy label and designed to be sold in the hardware and discount chains. The Model 250 series semiautomatic .22 caliber rifle from Mossberg would definitely be considered a shooter and not a collectable.
As for a replacement magazine, Numrich Gun Parts Corp. (http://www.e-gunparts.com/product.asp?chrProductSKU=36560&MC=) lists this as their Item No. 36560. You might also try contacting the people at Havlin Sales & Service (http://www.havlinsales.com/22rifle.htm). These people specialize in discontinued Mossberg replacement parts. Hope this helps!

Thanks Steven,
You should set up an "ask the information Guru" forum.
