View Full Version : Questions about Global's PMKMS Parts Sets
I'm interested in getting one of the PMKMS parts sets that Global is selling, but I have a few questions:
1) Are the "select" ones that they still have left really top quality or did I miss the boat? I'm especially interested in the wood on the handguards being perfect and I want all matching numbers.
2) Do they ship in a timely manner and package properly?
Thanks!

1) Well, I ordered one in june and it was beautiful, perfect wood and finish on every part, bore was excellent. I ordered a non-select kit a couple of weeks ago and the finish was not quite as good but still in the excellent range. This one, however had the firing pin frozen forward by corrosion, mainly on the bolt face and inside the bolt. It seemed to me like it was test fired a long time ago with corrosive ammunition then stored.
I called Global and explained the situation and they very readily agreed to replace my kit with a secect one if I mailed it back to them. No hassle at all (except mailing it, that is). Both times I've dealt with them, their coustomer service has been very courteous and responsive.
I'll post what I think about my kit when I get it.
2) both kits have been very securely packaged in plastic shrink wrap with the trigger assembly in a little plactic cup which was individually sealed and the springs and other larger parts other than the barrel assembly in a separate compartment. They were shipped in a timely manner (~1 to 1.5 weeks) and the package seemed pretty secure. I did wait a while for backordered rivets, though.

Not having a great deal of experience with AK's , I wanted a quality kit. I looked all over the kit I received in 2 days from ordering it and could not tell it had been fired. The only possible evidence was on the bottom of the front trunion where there was some carbon, no eveidence on the bolt face or anywhere else. The wood was spectacular, not a scratch. And the grain looks great.
I liked it so much that I ordered another yesterday, the only problem is they still don't have the fixed stock trunion, and a load on backorder.
I ordered one from K-var to complete my fixed stock rifle.
If this next one is as good as the first I will be most satisfied.
A little too expensive, but I will pay extra for quality.

Mine is also in great shape. And much better built than any of the SAR or Chinese sets I've seen. :D
