How about a SKS krinkov? I am thinking about building one of these. (computer rendering)

Looks like a handy carbine.

Wouldn't it make more sense to start off of a platform which was designed to accept a detachable mag, rather than rely upon aftermarket mags of questionable quality?
'Less you're doing it just for S&G, that is.

If I was gonna build a gun like this I would probably use a fixed 20 rd Chicom mag (that is unless I could find some really good instructions to convert to regular ak mags.) The big advantage over a gun like this is cost and ease of manufacture (except for the clip deal.) As far as function, I think it would be just as good as a mini AK. What do you guys think?

I think a 10" barrel with the fixed 10 mag would be just fine.
If not for the $200.00 sbr tax I would be filing out the form 1 right now.

I think the real problem about building one of these is the sks piston and gas tube. The gas tube has 2 different diameters [one for the piston head and one for the rod.] Do you think there is enough pressure built up if you remove piston head, that is just allow gas to directly hit piston rod {and cycle rifle properly.) This would be very easy to modify just want to know if the rifle will properly function.
