"krinks", hesse and "itm" are three usa made recs.
global trades sells an ak-74 partially finished rec.

Only way to go as far as I know for the money is the Global Trades AKM (AK47) receiver. The only modification is to possibly build up the ejector a bit and reprofile it. Not a big deal. We built a post sample full auto Krinkov using this receiver that has been extensively test fired on full auto with no jams/misfires, etc.

Personally, Global's prices are insane for a foreign stamped AK receiver. I can't quite figure out why no US compaines can get this right..it seems (to a non-enginner type guy like me) that it should be a fairly easy piece to copy from an original and produce in mass with good quality control. Hell, the stapler sitting in front of me has more bends and holes than an AK receiver, and 'Swingline' seems to be producing them effectively http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/smile.gif
take care,
Tec (who has hopes ofr the ITM receiver, but hasn't ordered one..yet)

I used a SAR-2 receiver and it was free. I got the gun for $240 sold all the parts off of it for $265 and kept the receiver. The mag well is correct and so is the ejector. The finish on it sucks but I am going to have it refinished anyway. It also has the triger guard already in place.

Nice Job Teamafx!
How difficult was it to install the rear trunnion and cut the receiver?

thanks a lot, guys!If wasn't for you i would be walking around a hole of doubts!you guys make this site great!keep it up!
Since you wish to make a 5.45 Krinkow you have two choices. Either a pre-ban Norinco 223 if you wish for the folder to work, if not the other choice is a post ban 5.45 Romanian but you will have to weld the stock open. A lot of people overlook the size of the mag well when ordering the 7.62 receivers out there. Those mag wells are larger in size than the standard 5.45 mags you will use. In order to use the 7.62 receiver you will have to weld in place some steel to make up for the slack/additional space. If you do this and turn the rifle upside down it really looks bad, and you will have all that space there.

AKEXPERT...THANKS FOR YOUR INFORMATION.SO WHAT YOU SAYING IS THAT ANY AKM 5.45 COMPLETE GUN OR 5.45 RECEIVER , WILL HAVE THE MAGAZINE WELL SIZE CUT FOR THE MAGS I HAVE(BULGARIAN KYTEL 5.45 MAGS)?ANYONE PLEASE, FEEL FREE TO JUMP INTO THE SUBJECT!THANKS
Correctamundo! I would go 5.45 Romanian receiver since they are correct, the rifles are cheap and screw the sidefolder folding. Since its only a SBR semi. You could go pre ban Norinco 223 then your paying an additional 500-600 possibly to have tha folder. Not worth it IMHO.

akexpert...the 5.45 mag hole is LARGER front to rear than 7.62 (i know...i just opened up my krinks 7.62 rec. to fit the 5.45 mag to.)
in the width dimension, there is about 1/16" per side "clearance" when i inserted my 5.45 mag in the legthened 7.62 hole.
if you set up your mag to fit "snuggly"...you will have no wobble. this krinkov has a better mag fit than any of my "factory" built rifles.

ALLRIGHT CAMPY...BY THE WAY ...HOW IS YOUR HESSE RECEIVER GOING SO FAR?DOES IT COME WITH TRIGGER GUARDS,TRIGGER CUT,MAGAZINE WELL CUT?IS IT THE ONE YOU ARE ENLARGING(VERTICAL) THE HOLE FOR 5.45 MAG WELL?I,M THINKING ABOUT GETTING THE HESSES SO FAR!GO GET THE CAMERA CAMPY(HELL NO...FOR THE SAME MONEY I WOULD BUY ANOTHER KRINKOV KIT....HUH!?)!HOW ABOUT YOUR NEIGHBORS?

the hesse is finished...and waiting for me to submit paperwork, get approval from the atf, etc.
the trigger guard comes with the p.a. krink kit. the hesse has a 7.62 mag well opening that needs to be "stretched" to fit the 5.45 (in the front to rear dimension) mag.
my brother-in-law has a dig cam. maybe he will lend it to me over the weekend.

questions are not stupid. they are a normal part of the learning process.
as i had built a successful (it "worked", at least) conventional akm (stamped rec., one the i made at work) using the screw together method of assembly, i chose to tap the trunnion holes and screw the rifle together. i did not use the rivits.
bucking the rivits is not really a problem. i have made tools to do that job from scraps of steel. time consuming, but not difficult. any good industrial supply shop can sell you the rivit setting tools if you show them the size rivit you are using.
i wanted a more "proffesional" and "finished" look to the job...so i used no. 10-32 button head screws loctited to the trunnion and no. 8-32 button heads for the trigger guard. see my post on the hesse assembly stage 1 for details.

Just one correction on the AK47 receiver. We used a Global Trades AKM FEG receiver to build our full auto post sample Krinkov. It has fired over 500 rounds mostly on full auto with NOT ONE jam. It also requires no "welding" for the AK74 mags to work. I think when you replace the trunnion the problem is solved. They lock in tight and stay that way w/o any mods.

what are you guys doing for a muzzle device on those post-ban receivers? Using AK74 brakes?
Thx!
