I want to get the receiver for an AKS-74U stamped kit that will be the EASIEST for me to assemble at home. I'm not necessarily looking for the cheapest, just easiest. I don't need any legal advice, should have all my bases covered now.

I see the Tennessee Guns stamped receiver has no trunion holes drilled. Also it's for 7.62. I can have a machine shop make a sleeve for the mag well. I hear the ejector may be a tad shorter. Is there anything else that would make this a hard project?

Could you guys give me the pros/cons about the Tennessee receiver/Global Trades FEG (is this the best for what I'm doing?)/chop a SAR2/go with a Norinco for pre ban (probably a lot harder than my skills right now)/????

I sure would appreciate the help. I'll post pics as I go for the other new people.

Thanks,
StG

For what it is worth, I have two of the Tenn Guns recvrs residing in my safe. Look decent, made in Cleveland Ohio. Mag well problem looks pretty easy. Ejector is long enough, it appears - tried my SAR2 bolt and looks like it will work. If in doubt, put a "dab" of tig on the end and do some file work. A little debur and hand work on rough edges will clear up balance of the thing. If you can get the holes in right place for trunnions and can rivit you have taken care of receiver part. It appears to me that one can rivit in front trunnion first then support trunnion with block inserted from rear end of receiver while pressing in barrel. Once timing and headspace are right on, THEN rivit in rear trunnion, pin barrel and complete assembly. Maybe Mike Prewitt will jump in and add to my lame comments.
