dang! it looks pretty good! just picked up this $59 wonder, and it really doesn't "look" bad. it appears to be straight and true, optically.
the following details are merely first impression" details and by no means reflect on how it will build up. as my parts kit is at work, i cannot even trial fit the pieces to the frame. tomorrow, i'll commence with the build up a see how see flies. i'll test fire control group function, hole line-up, etc.

finish: black oxide (not like my PARKERIZED romy's...hear me, ekie? heheh!).

edges beburred nicely.

standoff tube and rivit is pre-installed.

uper rails rolled even nicer than the commies do it!!!

lower rails are 6 welds per side and the standoff locates thru them.

mag well dimples are present and look very close iin appearance to the commie ones.

pivot pins have the correct stamped "x"'s on the left (head) side.

front trunnion holes are in the euro pattern (two holes in line at top front, one hole lower rear).

selector hole is present as well as the installation slot. dimple "looks" correct.

selector settings are marked "s" and "f".

rear trunnion holes are present (two per side in the fixed stock diagonal pattern). note, krink builders will have to drill for the side folder trunnion and mill/drill the button hole).

ejector is 7.62 and "may" need built up with weld for reliable function...we'll see.

rec. bottom has all holes for the trigger guard/mag latch; square hole for the grip "t"- nut and tthe mag well opening has the correct sloped front profile.

markings on the right side/rear are:
HESSE
ST. PAUL, MN USA
MODEL 7.62X39 CAL.

the right side/rear contains the serial number. mine is in the 5000 range. let's hope the finally learned how to make a receiver by now.

initially, i'm impressed. tomorrow: a hardness test in several areas and the start of assembly. wish me luck!

well, good luck Campy, I've been following your posts on the Hesse receivers. I recently purchased a 7.62 Krink kit from
K-var to do a pistol project. I was totally impressed with the quality of the kit, brand new stuff, every part finished. I hope the Hesse rec. turns out well in your tests, I'm ready to purchase 2 of them next week. Am I correct in understanding that they have the trunion block holes drilled already? Man that would save some time for me!
Thanks, YAVO

yavo, yes...front and rear trunnion holes are ready to go.

but, i believe the rear trunnion (for the sidefolder) will require the drilling of additional holes. and, there MAY be an "unused" hole that is already drilled on the hesse (this hole is for the fixed buttstock rear trunnion).

i will either "plug" this hole by usining the cross support tob and rivit supplied in the krink kit or just use to "functionless" rivits...depending on internal clearance needed by the fire control parts.

the added cross brace tube would add additional strength. i will be starting assembly today, so stay tuned.

Campy, Thanks for the reply, and stay tuned I will, Just orderd 2 Hesse rec. from Wholesale Guns, I inquired as to the
serial #s and they said they are in the 8*** range, quite a jump from 5***. I have noticed 3 holes drilled for the front trunnion on the Hesse receivers and the Krinkov barrel block has only 2 rivet holes per side, perhaps these will need filled also or am I just really missing something.
I will stay tuned for the results.
Thanks, YAVO Hey, got any pictures?
