XM177 style Brake?

Is this an old CAR15 style brake for newer rifles Kurt? Is it really a slip-over design with the muzzle actually close to the chamber at the end of the brake?

If so, that's a really cool and original idea for post-ban owners wanting an old-style CAR look! It might also look sharp on a pistol-caliber carbine...

Yes, that's a konverted 5.5, with a silver soldered sleeve out front. For a stranger looking gizzy, check out the XM177 FS, a monolithic knockoff of the original assembly:
