I measured the pins and here is what I got.
I used the Cruffler.com converter to get the mm
1.Front sight pins: .121"/3.0734mm
2.Barrel pin: .278"/7.0612mm
So if those are correct(Anyone else care to get out their micrometer?)would 3.00mm and 7.00mm,respectively,be correct?
Would .073mm and .0612mm be a tight enough press fit?

Don't worry, I don't think it's obsessive. I think it's just trying to make sure the pins don't fall out cause they're too loose, or bend over cause they're too tight! http://www.ak-47.net/akcgi/biggrin.gif

Does anyone know the proper size metric drill bit for drilling the holes for the gasblock, front sight housing, and barrel pins.
I found a place that has metric bits in .05mm increments and would like to use metric bits.If anyone can.......I would like to know the pin sizes in mm and how much smaller in mm the bit should be for a good press fit.

I made a similar post here......not all the questions were answered. Hopefully we can get this figured out with other member's help.

Im pretty sure you want to drill through both sides, so in the future it would be easier to get them out.

Drill straight through. Use a GOOD drill press to be sure the holes are straight. Then press the pins in with a press. You may need to polish the pin SLIGHTLY to get it all the way in as it is a friction fit just like the barrel. Pins don't need peening, nor are they long enough for that.

Mark, do we drill the whole way through and peen both ends or drill most of the way through and peen the exposed one?
Thanks
