I guess you are talking about the front trunion and having the barrel only going in a quarter of the way.
look under "build it yourself" and there are alot of examples of pressing the front barrel in, or perform a search for those type of phrases.
Other place of info is roderus HERE (http://www.roderuscustom.tzo.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi?s=3f8cba8d0440ffff;act=SF;f=24)

as long as the trunion is on streight you can take the slant break off and put the muzzel of the barrel against a piece of 2x4 sitting on the floor holding the barrel in an upright position(I like to sit in a chair and hold the barrel with my feet and legs), then take a piece of aluminum flat stock 1/4 inch thick or so and place it on the butstock side of the trunion, now with a small brass hammer tap the trunion on using just enough force to move the trunion a few thousants at a time untill its where you want it.when installing the barrel pin, put it in from the side that does not have the edge of the barrel sticking up into the barrel pin hole otherwise you will shave some metal off the barrel pin(not a good thing),now when you put the barrel pin in it will move the trunion in relation to the barrel(back to its origanal position before it was disasymbled)unless you lucked out and got it perfect the first time.If your receiver shell is already riveted to the trunion you will have to make a tool to go against the trunion to use this method.

(edited to add.) I use a little light oil to ease assymbly and prevent galling,I dont use any never seize type compounds as I want the barrel to stay where I put it.
