ak parts kits

you can legaly own both, but not at the same time. if you got a full auto ak kit, but didnt have a reciver or another ak, your in the green, what you should do the is "lose" the fire control parts from the full auto kit. then buy a reciver and semi auto fire control parts. having a full auto kit and and any reciver, full atuo holes or not is a red flag for the ATF. if you have a working semi auto ak with the third hole drilled for the auto parts GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL. sucks but thats the way it is. or you could buy a full auto kit, get a reciver, build a MG. and the hide it somewhere far far away. but then if its found your in trouble and you cant use the thing, ever. lame eh? my $.02 thanks

new to the ak building process...

What would happen if i bought a parts kit, ( and all i see are full auto kits) but, built a ak from a full auto kit, but used a semi reciver, no auto sear holes drilled, but used the parts in the kit for the rifle. would it function correctly only in semi, or would there be something else i need to add to keep it from slam firing occasionly, would hate to be shooting at the range and have 2 or 3 go off unintendly. is it safe to buy a kit and make a semi rifle out of it?? what kits do you recommend to get ( I have no experience with the ak, other than a mak-90 I owned 5 years ago) I was leaning to the interordance m-97 with a wire stock?>?? any reports on those, i also want to buy enough parts and stuff to make one when I can afford to, I know the reciver is the ffl part and want to get that first, but the kits seem to be the cheaper route to get the internals and was wondering about the effect of a full auto kit with a semi reciever../.

Not very interested in a fa rifle, but the kits seem to be a cheap way to go. so if I bought the kit, i would have to get all new internal fire control parts??? does ne1 sell a semi only kit, so I wouldnt have to buy new parts. I just thought that building one would be the best way to come to know the rifle better than just buying one. what parts do I need to aqquire to build a semi gun and what parts from the kits can I keep and use???

Check with Kvar. They have semi only AK parts kits. Brand new with everything except the receiver.

I believe it is also OK to grind the full auto parts to semi shapes and not get in the do do. Bolt can be left alone. Sear holes are biggest problem so NEVER drill those! Reciever is ONLY part that is "once a machine gun, always a machine gun". Don't forget the section 922 limits on imported parts with more than one "evil" feature.
