I have a Chilean model 1912-61 mauser chambered in .308. It is a large ringe mauser with a 23" barrel. The stock still looks good but the crest on the stock is 95% worn off, all you can see is the outline of it. The bore is bright. It was rechambered to .308 in 1961, thats what the -61 means. The serial numbers on the bolt do not match the serial numbers on the action. There is no rust, and the action is very smooth. I had a hard time fidding info on this rifle, let alone its value.

How much is this rifle worth?

Does it happen to be a Steyr ?? On the side of the receiver it will say if it is.

Considering the shape you describe it is worth about $100 to $125.Someone wanting a 7.62X51NATO chambered gun might pay a little more.I know where there is one right now that is in much better shape than you describe and it can be had for $175.
The crest is the thing to a collector. The more prominent it is the more the rifle's value is.Also an original sling is worth about $20 to $25.
I hope I didn't insult what you estimated the value was of your rifle.

price seems about right, I might have guessed a little higher regarding this is a carbine. Is the receiver still in the white? If original, it should have no bluing on it.
