HI!

Trying to get a 9mm conversion for my M16 RDIAS setup..

Have a RDIAS with A2 buffer lower and M16 lower parts.

I have narrow to American Spirited Arms or Rock River arms!

Seems ASA price is higher than RRA! Wonder any of you have any experience with any of the setup!???

Feedback !

Thanks!

I thought long and hard about this matter of getting a 9mm upper. My plan was RRA 9mmm upper, SOCOM mag block http://www.socommfg.com/requested%20pictures.htm, and crap loads os unmodified sten mags from CDNN. Instead I got a 5.56 upper. Oh well. Maybe some day. Anyways, I'm not disappointed at all about getting that RRA 5.56 upper on my RRA lower. Sweet looking rifle. And sorry for you Bushy fans out there, but if put a bushy and a RRA rifle next to each other, the RRA is a much better looking rifle. Don't know crap about ASA. Sorry for wasting your time.:D

You got a problem..

There are two styles of 9mm AR's
(1) Colt Style- which includes COLT, RRA, ASA
(2) Olympic Arms- which includes Olympic Arms

Colt style you can use UZI mags or Colt Style 9mm mags
Olympic Arms you can use Sten mags.

Yes there are a couple people using STEN mags on their COLT STYLE but most don't.

The SOCOM block is for the OLYMPIC arms style. You can not use it on the COLT style due to the placement of the mag in the mag well.

As for mag adaptor blocks.
Colt Style: Hytech, Garrison, COLT, ASA, RRA
Olympic Arms: SOCOM, Olympic Arms

Damn, it's so confusing. The Oly looks like the way to go.

sorry for the slow response.. been busy...

I would go RRA upper and lower.
ASA or Garrision mag adaptor.

You will be pleased.

On your lower make sure you get a 9mm hammer and a 9mm buffer.

i have a complete olympic arms 9mm ar-15 with a socom block so i can use the cheap sten mags. this thing will eat up any type of 9mm ammo from the best, cleanest ammo such as federal premium/remington green box/etc. to the cheapest, dirty, filthy russian laquered ammo without a failure all day at the range. so my vote would be an olympic arms. also, i can use the olympic lower for any other type of caliber upper. just my two cents. thanks.

I go with the RRA or ASA, but would prefer the RRA because I know their quality. I have heard nothing but bad things from ASA.
Ive had the Oly style and was not impressed, as the ejector is just a piece of wire.

I have a Colt 9mm carbine. so 9mm buffer and 223 carbine buffer is totally different ?

yes, the 9mm buffer is heavier.

But in my setup I can run the 223 buffer and it works.
But I have a dedicated lower, so I just run the 9mm ne

I know this is an old thread but I am new to the board and request some assistance.

I have a Colt M 16A2 on a form 4. Recently I acquired a Colt 9mm upper with a bolt. I am not sure if the bolt is a simi or full auto.

I want a mag block and mags that work full auto with thie Colt upper and lower I have. I would also like to have someone tell me the difference between full and simi bolts.

I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me.

the ar type will have part of the firing pin exposed as to catch the hammer in case of "modification" and the rear portion of the carrier will be totally round not cut up like the new colt versions as not to be able to use lightning links but the m16 model will be @1 3/4 " long will have to go measure for sure.

show me your bolt carrier.. (bottom side) I have a Colt 9mm semi. and I just saw a full auto 9mm carrier at local C3 dealer. so I can tell your carrier is semi or auto.

I will take a photograph of the bolt and post it.

In the mean time what is the best mag block and mags that are readly avaliable to buy?

well My lower is original 9mm. so I dont know whats the best but some mag blocks takes unmodified UZI magazines. I use modified UZI mags and it really works great. I will post my semiauto 9mm bolt later tonight.
