Is there any interest in these guns?

I recently bought one in a pawn shop, complete with Type 30 bayonet. The gun has matching numbers, no rust except under the bayonet ring, where there is some pitting on the barrel, overall 90% bluing, the best stock that I have seen yet on a Type 38, and a shiney bore. I had to put a firing pin spring in it, but it was otherwise complete and immaculate. I paid $100 for the rifle with bayonet and scabbard and had to pay Numrich less than $10 for the spring and shipping. I think I did OK.

I have seen two different safety knobs for these guns. Is there a "correct" one?

First off;

WELCOME TO THE BOARD

and secondly congatualtions on your new rifle. There are a few members here that are into the Japanese rifles. I'm not one of them but not from lack of trying. Just saw a Type 38 with bayonet go for $110 at a recent auction. Should have bought it but I knew the guy who was bidding on it and the bore was pretty bad not to mention it was a mixmaster as far as parts go. Can't tell you about the safety knobs but I'm sure someone will post shortly with an answer. Graf & Sons in conjuction with Hornady is supposed to be making some ammo for both these rifle and the 7.7 very soon. Is this your first Japanese rifle? Post some opics of your new purchase if you can. We all enjoy sharing. Again, welcome to the board.:)

Type 38 or 99 is on my list of wants. Don't have any Japanese rifles at this time though. Please post a pic of it if you can.

I like the 6th one from the top on the below page. But, at $475...?

I've got a type 38, and it I love it. I haven't shot it yet, but one of these days I will give it a shot or 20. It has a butter smooth action.
