rear sight play?

I just bought a AR15 upper and the rear sight has some left and right play is this normal ?:rolleyes:

None of mine have any play in them.

The rear sight is spring loaded and does tend to rotate counterclockwise. Spring loading the sight keeps it in the same position but can give the sight a 'not squared' look or some play, depending on the tolerances of the upper.

You can reset the rear sight to an IBZ zero and that does help remove the rotational play as the A2 elevation knob is reset... the IBZ is the best zeroing method anyway, so it's a win-win... :D
