Samco is a pretty good place to buy from. They have the Swedes and the Persians too IIRC.

Regarding the rifle, I believe this is the small ring action vs. the 1943 La Coruna large ring action. When Spain joined NATO, they converted a lot of their existing rifles to the new 7.62 NATO round. If you have seen them, the FR7 and FR8, shortened 1916 and 1943 Mausers respectively, were used as training rifles for the Spanish CETME.

I think Redstar and a couple of others here have a 1916.

Just be advised that these rifles are NOT .308.They are 7.62X51.There is some question as to whether or not the Spanish steel is even strong enough for the 7.61X51.Do a lot of research on these before you buy so that you know all the pros and cons.

thanks for the input, the samco site has these and a link to an article reviewing the rifle and they are advertising them as 308, and the article goes on about the performance. but i will look elsewhere for more data on it.

thanks again

I have one, I've shot about 100 rounds of 7.62x51 without it blowing up, however the rounds like to pop out of top of the magazine.
