Who has a 9mm tok and is it worth getting?
I dont really like 9mm but it is really cheap to shoot and much easier to find here than 7.62x25. I have a chinese type-54-1 and I love it to death. But now im thinking about getting a Tok in 9mm.
thanks

I Have A Norinco M-213 In 9mm That Is My Carry Piece...Pretty Accurate For A $150 Gun.
The Only Thing That I'd Have to Say About The 9mm Versions Is that You May Want to Polish The Chamber On the Barrel, they Tend to Be A little Tight Sometimes...If You Want to Shoot 9mm...Instead Of Buying A Whole New Gun,Just Invest In A New Barel.Hunter's Lodge Has Replacement Barrels For $20.00 Shipped(They Are for Tu-90's,But Will Fit Your Gun Fine without A New Bushing).Their Web Site Is www.Hunterslodge.com
As For 9mm Mags...You Can Use Your Regular 7.62 Mags,Just Make Sure You Tap The Rounds To the Rear After Loading.
Hope this Helps...:D

We had 2 Chinese guns, Norinco I think. The guns worked well and fed well. These were guns that people came to sell cheap cause the safeties did not work right. Don't know if all of them were like that. The original guns had no manual safety and these had a rig that pushed the disconnetor down to keep the trigger bar from making contact with the sear. We just took the lever off of them and carried them with the chamber empty untill ready to fire. Guns worked well otherwise. I would not say that it was a safe practice but the guns would not work right otherwise. Have they come up with a better fafety since then? Those were mid to late 1980's imports before the import ban.

The Polish Tokarev have a safety that just behind the trigger that is better than on the Chinese ones but alot of people still remove them.
Most toks dont have a safety or if the do its an Aftermarket importation safety. The polish Toks Safetys where converted at the Arsenals so they are pretty well done.

I have a Tokarev TT33 and I'm going to put a 9mm barrel on it. Does anybody know if the regulat 7.62x25 mags will work or do I need to find 9mm mags for it?

I put 9mm rounds in my 7.62x25mm mags today. They fit perfectly,If you look at a 7.62x25mm its th same as a 9mm until you get to the neck where it gets smaller and is longer.
I have a seen a 9mm Tok mag, its just a 7.62x25 mag with a piece of metal inside of it keep the rounds foward. I would just push the 9mm bullets all the way to the back of the mag and it should work fine.

Buckshot,
Was changing the barrels from 7.62 to 9mm fairly straightforward?

Just to follow-up. I did put a 9mm barrel in my TT33 and used the original 7.62x25 mag. Both worked fine!
Changing barrels was so easy it was ridiculous!

Hi Buck!
I used 9m/m Value packs from Wal-Mart. I've fired about 300 rounds now through the barrel. Accuracy has been good. The only problem I've run into is that the last round sometimes stovepipes due to the loose fit of the 9m/m round in the 7.62x25 mag. I only use the 9m/m barrel for target shooting due to this.
Otherwise the barrel itself is great!
BTW, I see Norinco modified mags available for 9m/m but haven't tried them.
Hope this helps!

hi Mr Smith!
You might want to check out Makarov.com they should have 7.62x25 barrels.

I have a 9mm Yugoslavian Tokarev imported by American Arms back in the early 90's, by far the nicest finished Tok there is.

The Chinese T54 in 9mm is nice, never had any problems with mine, for $140 you can't beat it. I have a Russian in original calbber too and I might want to get a 762 barrle for the Chicom...

I put a used 9mm M213 barrel in my Type 54-1 and I never went back to the old caliber! I enjoy shooting 9mm much better, the ammo is so easy to get and cheap to shoot! I use my original 7.62 TOK magazines, I also have a couple of the 9mm mags with a spacer inside, those are not as reliable as my original mags, stick with your original 7.62 TOK magazines, they are more reliable..
the M213 barrels require a larger barrel bushing and the barrels are a little heavier than the conversion barrels.
I have both types, I bought a 9mm conversion barrel from Navy Arms and it had a "thinner barrel" but it works with your original
barrel bushing.
The used M213 barrel I use now has to be used with the M213 barrel bushing, because the barrel is "heavier" or thicker walled.
also a little better quality, than the replacement conversion barrels, but they are harder to find.

Cheaper Than Dirt has M213 mags, 9mm, with a spacer in front. When I used the regular mag in mine for 9mm, I was getting one or two failures per mag. the cartridges will move around as you shoot, especially as it emptys. I've had better luck with the 213 mag, but I think I still need to polish the barrel.

I just got a model 213 back for $125 from a friend of mine. I sold
it to him about a year ago and I wanted it back. I shot it a little
and it was reliable. I don't care for the safey either. I probably
won't remove it though. I believe these are very rugged and reliable guns and a steal.
The first one I bought was a TU-90 second ordered from Navy Arms in the early 1990's. It was nib but had a couple of scrathes on the slide so was sold as a second. But for $90.05 out the door I could live with the cosmetic faults. It fed ball ammo 100% and after some chamber chamfering/feed ramp polishing it would feed most hp ammo. Had it for a couple of years till I couldn't stand a friend's begging me to sell it to him anymore.
Since then I have bought 3 more model 213 variations a model TOK 213 ,model 213,and a model 213-A.
All are 100% reliable with ball and Remington 115gr hp ammo.
The 213-A is the best of the bunch as it is a Tokarev that uses a 14rd double stack mag.
